KU Area Health Education Centers
Three centers - in Garden City, Hays and Pittsburg - offer programs, continuing education and services to medical,
nursing and allied health students as well as to rural providers in their part of the state.
KUMC Telemedicine and Telehealth
What began with a single connection to a community in western Kansas has grown to more than 40 sites across
the state. With more than 10,000 clinical consultations conducted across 200 specialties over the last decade,
the center one of the most active telemedicine programs in the world.
Rural Health Education and Services
Programs include: Kansas Bridging Plan, offering loan-forgiveness for resident physicians; Kansas Recruitment
Center, a health-care career service; Kansas Locum Tenens, providing temporary coverage for rural physicians;
Kansas Career Opportunities, a rural health-care career fair; and Kansas Connections, a quarterly newsletter.
KU Continuing Education
Conducts classes in a variety of convenient locations as well as online through the Virtual Classroom where
courses, supplemental material and study aids for the Schools of Allied Health, Medicine, Nursing and Pharmacy
as well as Continuing Education can be found.
Outreach Aircraft
KU’s Outreach Aircraft provides physicians, faculty and other medical
center personnel with opportunities for collaboration on projects to better serve
Kansans.
HTO Projects
KU Health and Technology Outreach is involved in a number of special programs
that provide current and future health care professionals with many opportunities
for growth in their respective fields.
